DCE Commends President Mahama for Increasing Disability Fund, Highlights One-Year Development Achievements

July 10, 2026

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West District, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for increasing the allocation of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from 3% to 5%, describing the decision as a significant step towards improving the welfare and economic empowerment of persons living with disabilities.

Hon. Sedik made the remarks during The People's Platform, a public engagement programme organised by Mahesh FM, where he accounted to residents for the performance of his administration over the past year.

According to the DCE, the increase in the disability fund has enabled the Assembly to extend support to a greater number of beneficiaries. He disclosed that under his leadership, a total of 86 persons living with disabilities have been assisted within the past year through various empowerment initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods and promoting economic independence.

He expressed gratitude to President Mahama for prioritising the needs of vulnerable groups, noting that the increment in the allocation demonstrates the government's commitment to inclusive development and social protection.

Hon. Sedik also used the platform to outline key projects undertaken by the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly over the past year. He highlighted achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, sanitation, and other sectors, emphasising that the projects were implemented to improve the living conditions of residents across the District.

He assured the people of his continued commitment to transparent and accountable leadership, stressing that his administration would continue to work closely with all stakeholders to accelerate the District's development agenda.

The People's Platform provided residents with the opportunity to interact with the DCE, seek clarification on government policies, and receive updates on ongoing and completed development projects within the District.
